VISIT TO MASONIC TEMPLE IN SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE
On Saturday 25th July 2009, local Masons were invited by Lodge Anaza No 33 to visit "Templo San Lucas" the Masonic Temple in Santa Cruz.  This historic building was built for Lodge Anaza in 1909.  73 years ago, under the regime of Franco, Freemasons were persecuted and the Temple was seized. Initially after seizure it was the Headquarters of the Falangist Party and later was taken over by the Guardia Civil. It is currently under restoration and will become a Museum.  It is hoped that following full restoration Lodge Anaza will once again be able to use their Temple.  During the visit we were able to to marvel at the original splendour of the building and the main Lodge Room. Quite an attraction was the tunnel leading to a chamber where candidates meditated prior to initiation.  The tunnel and chamber were totally in the dark and in the photos you can see some of the visitors finding their way by holding the wall or with the aid of their mobile phone.
