VISIT TO MASONIC TEMPLE IN SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE
On Saturday 25th July 2009, we were invited by Lodge Anaza to visit the Masonic Temple in Santa Cruz. This historic building was built for Lodge Anaza in 1909. 73 years ago, under the regime of Franco, Freemasons were persecuted and the Temple was seized. Initially after seizure it was the Headquarters of the Falangist Party and later was taken over by the Guardia Civil. It is currently under restoration and will become a Museum. It is hoped that following full restoration Lodge Anaza will once again be able to use their Temple. During the visit we were able to to marvel at the original splendour of the building and the main Lodge Room. Quite an attraction was the tunnel leading to a chamber where candidates meditated prior to initiation. The tunnel and chamber were totally in the dark and in the photos you can see some of the visitors finding their way by holding the wall or with the aid of their mobile phone.

LODGE SUMMER BBQ On Saturday 30th May, we held our annual Lodge Summer BBQ at John & Barbara Williams' Finca in the mountains at Vera de Erques. Our Head BBQ Chef was Jim Brown and his Schaslicks, Bratwurst and Chicken legs were perfectly cooked and gratefully received. He was ably assisted by his partner Christel & Barbara Williams and it must be said that Christel's Kartoffelsalat (Potato Sald), was second to none. Music was provided by Caroline, ably assisted by her partner Alan Bergin, who also tested out a Quiz on unsuspecting members of the Lodge, great fun. A raffle was held with prizes donated by guests and next time Mark Peers promises to actually mix the tickets. The net result was that a great time was had by all and Lodge Charity Funds were suitably increased. Click the photos to enlarge and see the slideshow

Ladies Festival at the Hotel Jacaranda on Saturday 7th March 2009
The Ladies Festival is an annual 'black tie' event, this year held at the Jacaranda Hotel. The festival celebrates the help and support given by the ladies of the Lodge and this year, especially Jean Kelly, the Worshipful Master's Lady. The festival commenced with a champagne reception in the hotel gardens, the Worshipful Master and his Lady greeted their guests prior to dining. A sumptuous repast was served, accompanied by copious amounts of wine and of course liqueurs. There was live music and dancing carried on until the early hours of the morning.
Below are just a few of the photographs taken at the event.
